2016 State Test Info
The State Meeting has come and gone and I have updates on the new testing. First, when you log in, which I hope everyone has done or will soon, you may see more than one sport to take, only take football tests, part 1, mechanics (5 man), and especially part 2. When you log in, especially if you officiate another sport, you need to either create a new user profile, or at least change your local affiliation to FLFOA, or at worse Finger Lakes.
After doing this you can begin taking a test, you can start a test, save it and go back any time and as many times as you want. You will not be able to print it out, unless you do a screen shot, than you would need to do this 50 times since you can only see 2 questions at a time. When you take a test, you have 99 chances to pass it, for part II, you need at least an 85 to officiate football, per NYS football bylaws. Everyone’s test is different, so you can’t copy answers off another’s test. Also, if you take the test and want a better grade, when you take it over the last test is deleted, so if you pass with an 86, take it again and get an 80, you will need to take it again because recorded will be the 80. I do not think part II is online yet, but if not it will be soon. As for sub varsity, if you can get an 85, that is great, if not, do not worry as much, but you will also take a paper form at one of our meetings administered by Dan and Mike.
Also, this year’s schedule is attached along with testing instructions from last year.
NFHS Exam Start Date End Date
Part I June 3, 2016 September 1, 2016
Mechanics (4 & 5 Man) June 14, 2016 September 1, 2016
Part II June 20, 2016 September 1, 2016
Again, I will know more after the meeting but you can log in and start the tests, hopefully you remember your log in from last year. If you do not have the site saved, this should be the website, try to log in and let me know if you have any issues, thanks and see you all soon.
Update #1 – July 6th
Questions have come up on the test. Part II will open on August 15, not sure why the date is what it says, but this will give two weeks to complete this test. Also for State Lic./ID Number, do not put anything in that box. As for pass fail, Part I, there is no required grade, but I was told everyone should have pride enough to score well. Mechanics and Part II there is an 85% requirement for all Varsity members (Active). Sub varsity (Associates), there is a 70% requirement, but I would try to hit the 85% mark, this needs to be done before moving on as a varsity member.
Any people who may have a learning disability, or may need or want help with the test, please e-mail me separate and we have a few members that will meet you to help out. Also, if you take the test and do not get an 85%, you can take it again, it will not tell you which questions you missed, but will refer you to the rule book item that was missed.
