Section IV and V Recommended Varsity Pre-Game Sportsmanship Procedure

10 to 15 minutes prior to kick-off

(The timing on this can vary. More teams are being introduced as teams therefore less time may be needed for player introductions. Please begin earlier if the player’s names are going to be announced)

1. Players are announced.

8 minutes prior to kick-off

2. National Anthem/Pledge

6 minutes prior to kick-off

3. Sportsmanship talks to home and visiting team.

5 minutes prior to kick-off

4. Referee & Line Judge assembles home team captains at the 50 yd line. The rest of the home team coaches and players remain behind the sideline.

5. Umpire, Linesman & Back Judge assembles visiting team captains at 50 yd line. The rest of the visiting team coaches and players remain behind the sideline.

3 minutes prior to kick-off

6. Referee & Umpire escort captains to the center of the field. LJ & Back Judge (or Linesman in 4 man crew) remain at the sidelines with coaches and remaining players.

7. Umpire introduces visiting captains to Referee. Referee introduces home captains to visiting team.

8. Referee introduces remaining officials.

9. Referee conducts coin toss procedure.

1 minute prior to kick-off

10. Captains to sidelines.

11. Kicking & Receiving teams take the field.
